Rita Van Norman is a Clinical Social Worker with more than thirty years of experience specializing in the mental health concerns of older adults, as well as their caregivers and loved ones. Some of the issues Rita is well-qualified to treat are depression, anxiety, grief, as well as issues related to dementia. She is a Certified Grief Counselor and member of the Academy of Bereavement Professionals. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland. Rita has practiced in several inpatient and outpatient medical settings, including several within the Johns Hopkins Hospital System in Baltimore, MD. Rita was the Director of Social Work at Fairhaven Episcopal Ministries to the Aging in Sykesville, MD for five years. Rita and her husband moved from the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area to Spearfish in 2006. Since moving to the area, she spent eighteen months as an Adjunct Faculty member at Black Hills State University teaching classes on Social Problems, Death & Dying, The Psychology of Aging, and Crisis Intervention. Also, Rita authored the curriculum for the Wyoming Center of Aging (WyCOA) Caring with Confidence program, which is an educational offering for CNAs.
