Dr. Emilia Flint received her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of North Dakota in 2010. In addition to her work at Black Hills Psychology, she is a full time assistant professor of psychology at Black Hills State University.
Dr. Flint has specialized training in rehabilitation counseling and sport and exercise psychology. Her previous clinical experience includes general therapy in a rural setting, consultations with student athletes at a NCAA Division I School, and working as part of a team of rehabilitation experts involved in the overall treatment of neuromusculoskeletal disorders. She has extensive knowledge on the use of imagery in the rehabilitation process and can work with athletes with performance or rehabilitation concerns. She has worked with patients with TBI and those who are recovering from extensive hospital stays.
She performs psychological evaluations for chronic pain and pre-surgical assessments (e.g. bariatric surgery and device implantation). She works with individuals and family members of patients in need of therapy after major accidents, illness, and medical concerns, chronic pain, and traumatic events. In addition to her clinical experience in health and rehabilitaion psychology, she also provides psychotherapy for mood and anxiety disorders.
